Hair Removal with Bio-Medlase Nd:YAG Laser

Nd:YAG laser technology provides the ultimate in hair removal techniques. Proven over many years it offers safe and effective treatment without risk of skin damage for ALL skin types.

The specific wavelength of the Nd:YAG laser allows it to be adjusted specifically to maximise the hair removal abilities without skin damage. This is particularly a problem when the difference between hair colour and skin colour is slight. The Nd:YAG laser is able successfully to treat Afro-Carribean skin types as well as those with blonde hair and very pale skins.

IPL treatment for hair removal

Modern developments in IPL machines are incorporated in the Bio-Med Duo which now enables safe, thorough and cost effective hair removal treatment for larger areas without any risk of damage to the skin, scarring or pigmentation changes.

The New Bio-Medlase Duo represents a new avenue in the use of intense pulse light technology in the treatment and removal of unwanted hair. The unit can be programmed specifically to treat the hair follicle whilst ensuring that there is no permanent damage to the skin.

A pricking sensation will be experienced during the treatment as the treatment head is moved across the area. After treatment, the area will be reddened because of the heat introduced into the area. This will quickly fade. There is no longer any risk of long term term pigmentation change in the skin nor any scarring as this new generation of IPL machines enables the follicle to be treated without heating the skin to avoid any damage. Large areas can be covered much more quickly compared to using a laser.

Is Laser Hair Removal safe ?

Bio-Medlase utilises an Nd:YAG Laser (Neodymium - Yttrium Aluminium Garnet) that has been used for years by the Medical Profession. The Bio-Med IPL uses a wide spectrum intense light beam. In both methods the light is selectively absorbed by the melanin in the hair and converted into heat, thus destroying the hair follicle and the germinative cells. There is no danger of any skin pigmentation changes or scarring. The laser can be used safely for hair removal on all skin and hair types; the IPL is suited to less dark skin colours.

The beam is then directed at the prepared area and is selectively absorbed by the melanin in the hair and converted into heat, resulting in selective photo-thermal damage of the hair follicles.

At the end of the Bio-Medlase treatment an exclusive soothing formulation Healing Cream is is applied to stimulate cell repair and the production of new collagen fibres

All Bio-Med products comply to the European Medical Devices Directive MDD/93/42 CEE, for standard of safety and efficacy or the European Directives for Beauty Equipment.

Is Lase Hair Removal as painful as electrolysis ?

Absolutely not !

Bio-Medlase does not utilise needles, and at most you might feel a slight tingling or prickling and a warm sensation during the treatment.

How many treatments are necessary ?

Because with any treatment method it is only possible permanently to treat hair in the anagen phase, more than one treatment will be necessary to give the results required. Independent clinical trials * have shown that an average of 20 to 40% follicles are damaged following a single treatment.

Usually a course of treatments is necessary for a long lasting result.
